Hull Cleaning, Dock & Seawall Divers in Key Biscayne, FL

The village is small, about 1.25 square miles, and its boating is concentrated in a few spots. Key Biscayne Yacht Club on Harbor Drive, founded in 1955, has around 100 slips for boats up to about 60 feet. Hurricane Harbor and the Pines Canal are idle-speed, no-wake zones under county code, and the private docks around Mashta Island sit on that quiet water. Just north of the village, Crandon Park Marina on Crandon Boulevard is the county facility, with wet slips for boats up to 80 feet, fuel, dry storage and a ramp with 212 trailer spaces.

At the south end, No Name Harbor in Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park is the overnight anchorage, with a free pump-out. Boats that anchor there for a weekend and come home to a Hurricane Harbor dock get the same warm water on both ends of the trip, which is why we put village boats on a 30-day cleaning schedule and ZIP 33149 is on our route every month.

Bear Cut, the channel between Virginia Key and Key Biscayne, is where bay water and ocean water trade places on every tide, and the seagrass beds west of Virginia Key are where manatees gather. All of that water is fully salt, which means fast barnacle growth on props, shafts and rudders, the metal parts bottom paint can't protect. Inside Hurricane Harbor there is no wake to disturb the growth at all, so the algae band at the waterline is the first thing owners notice.

The village sits low, is in Evacuation Zone A and faces the open Atlantic, so its docks and seawalls take real weather. In 2023 the village floated a uniform 6.5-foot seawall height for bayfront properties; council members opposed it and we have not seen it adopted, so we treat it as a proposal and inspect the wall you have.
