Hull Cleaning, Dock & Seawall Divers in Delray Beach, FL

The Intracoastal, once the Florida East Coast Canal, runs through the city between the mainland and the barrier island, with drawbridges at George Bush Boulevard, Atlantic Avenue and Linton Boulevard. The Delray Beach City Marina sits on the west bank just south of Atlantic Avenue with 24 slips for boats from 30 to 55 feet, a pump-out and liveaboards allowed; Veterans Park is just north of the Atlantic Avenue bridge, and Delray Harbor Club Marina is south of Linton at about mile 1040.

From the Boynton marker south to Lake Wyman, the Intracoastal has a year-round 50-foot shoreline slow zone, which covers every Delray dock. Slow water is where growth stays: hard barnacles on the props and shafts, which bottom paint can't protect, and an algae band at the waterline. We clean every 30 days.

Tropic Isle is about 430 single-family homes on deep-water canals east of Federal Highway and south of Linton Boulevard, dredged starting around 1954, with no fixed bridges to the Intracoastal and a choice of the Boynton or Boca inlet. Delray's seawall ordinance sets a minimum top height of 4.2 feet NAVD88 for new walls, with a maximum of 5 feet or base flood elevation depending on location, and a 2018 city survey found about 70% of existing walls below that minimum. Owners of low walls can't let tidal water flow onto neighbors or public property, and sellers have to disclose the requirement to buyers. Raising a wall is not our job; ours is to clean it, inspect it, document its condition ($250 for a home, $350 for a multi-family or commercial property, lender paperwork included) and fill cracks all the way through with custom cement tubes.
