Hull Cleaning, Dock & Seawall Divers in Ocean Ridge, FL

The South Lake Worth Inlet, which everyone calls the Boynton Inlet, was cut between 1925 and 1927 to flush the south end of the Lake Worth Lagoon. It is 130 feet wide and 6 to 12 feet deep, and it is known for strong currents; more than 46,000 boats ran it in 2006 and seven needed rescue. Palm Beach County dredges its sand trap about every 6 years (the 2025 dredge removed more than 55,000 cubic yards) and runs a sand transfer plant that moves sand to the beaches south of it.

The inlet is bordered by Manalapan to the north and Ocean Ridge to the south, and Ocean Inlet Park on the south side runs from ocean to lagoon with county day-use boat slips and a paddle launch. The marked inlet channel is excluded from the Lantana-to-Boynton manatee slow zone, but the Intracoastal south of the Boynton marker has 50-foot shoreline slow zones, so the water at a dock is slow and the growth on a hull stays put.

There are no named subdivisions to point to; Ocean Ridge is deep-water estates with private docks along the west side of the island, and that is where our work is. The water at those docks mixes ocean water from the inlet with lagoon water, which is brackish, and a boat that sits in it between trips grows hard barnacles on the running gear and an algae band at the waterline. A dock this close to the inlet takes current and salt, and its pilings collect oysters from the mud up; we clean them without pickaxes or chisels and inspect them while they are bare. We have not found a town seawall ordinance, so a seawall inspection here is about the wall's condition and the lender-required documentation that a sale needs: $250 for a home, $350 for a multi-family property, cleaned first, with cracks filled all the way through with custom cement tubes.
