The Lake Worth Inlet, completed in 1917, is the town's northern boundary and the entrance channel for the Port of Palm Beach. Behind the island the Lake Worth Lagoon is brackish, mixing ocean water from the inlet with fresh water from the C-51 and the other canals. Near the inlet and Peanut Island, everything within 300 feet of the Palm Beach shore is a year-round idle-speed zone, and a 300-foot shoreline slow zone runs south from there to the Lantana bridge.

The Town of Palm Beach Marina on Australian Avenue dates to the 1940s as the Town Docks, was rebuilt in 2021, and is the town's only public marina, with 84 slips on the Brazilian, Australian, Peruvian and Royal Palm docks. A yacht that sits in one of them between charters grows hard barnacles on the running gear and slime across a lot of hull; our divers clean it in place every 30 days, and crews don't need to do anything.

Beyond the marina, our Palm Beach work is at private docks in the Estate Section south of Worth Avenue and on Everglades Island, a gated island of about 55 homes in the Estate Section on the lagoon, reached by the Island Road bridge. Estate Section and Everglades Island docks sit in the shoreline slow zone in brackish water, and their pilings carry oysters that we clean off without pickaxes or chisels before inspecting them. We have not researched a Palm Beach seawall ordinance, so a seawall inspection here is about the wall's condition and the lender-required documentation a sale needs: $250 for a home, $350 for a multi-family or commercial property, cleaned first, with cracks filled all the way through with custom cement tubes.
